Minnesota Kinship Caregivers Association
New way to Order Legal StepS
We realize that many caregivers have questions about their legal relationship to the children they care for, so we are still offering our Legal Steps Manual in an online format with the help of Legal Services State Support, with the assistance of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid. The Manual and related resources on kinship care will be available on LawHelpMN.org, a website that provides resources and referral information for low-income Minnesotans with civil legal needs. To access the kinship care resources, simply click here.

NEWS from MKCA
In October of 2009 MKCA was awarded a Family Connections Kinship Navigator grant funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families. As a result of this generous grant from the Federal government, MKCA served more than 2,167 relative caregivers and their children. With the conclusion of this grant, MKCA faced the difficulty of continuing services at a level we believe is necessary. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to dissolve MKCA as an independent non-profit.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the organizations and individuals who have been a part of MKCA’s efforts over these many years. We extend special thanks to our RAP partners, all current and previous board members, our Caregiver Support Specialists, volunteers and interns, staff – current and former, and Wilder Research for the passion and commitment brought to the needs of relative caregiving families.
We have deep respect for the thousands of grandparents and other relatives raising children in Minnesota! Thanks to each of you for providing a loving home for the children you are raising. You have inspired us in so many ways, and we hope that we have contributed, in at least some small way, to your children’s happy and successful futures.
