About MKCA

MKCA was founded in 1994 by a group of grandparents raising their grandchildren. As relative caregivers themselves, our founders understood firsthand the unique circumstances and challenges surrounding the commitment to care for a relative's child. They understood the importance of connecting caregivers to others in similar situations, as well as to legal information and other resources.

MKCA is a nonprofit organization serving people caring for, or considering caring for, a relative's child through information, support, and educational workshops. With some board and staff members who are caregivers themselves, MKCA brings compassion and understanding to the work of supporting relative caregivers. We connect families to resources and support. We also provide services and information to professionals who work with relative caregivers and families
